A recent story published by Scripps Howard News Service indicates that ancient humans had the hots for monkey butt.
The chimpanzee is the closest relative to humans in the animal world. Scientist conducted a recent study that resulted in a new DNA analysis of Chimps and Humans. The scientist sifted through about 800 times more DNA than earlier studies did, and found that parts of the DNA sequences at some points were are so different that they (Chimps and Humans) must have become isolated from each other as far back as as 10 million years ago, yet at other points in time, other DNA parts are so similar that the species (Chimps and Humans) appear to have been exchanging genes until at least 6.3 million years ago.
The findings seem to point to hybridization - the initial separation of the species, followed by an interbreeding that may have created one or more hybrid ancestors to both species followed by a final split (the monkeys took their butts some place else).
This study, if people dared to accept its conclusions, speaks to the truth of evolution and, the potentiality of some type of intelligent intervention in the evolution of man. Think about it.
