State GOP's efforts to remove Charles Morrison from the ballot to protect U.S. Representative Deborah Price sucks
Charles R. Morrison, II, a political nobody trying to be somebody, as a political long-shot, recently filed to run as an independent this year for Congress against Democrat Mary Jo Kilroy and Republican, Rep. Deborah Pryce. Republican Party Chairpersons in 3 counties moved to get Morrison off the general-election ballot claiming that he is a Republican. It does not matter that in the past the GOP party leadership treated Morrison less-than dog do do. At least dog do do gets their respect (they will try to walk around it but they never would ever see Charlie, regardless of his best efforts). Morrison never did get any respect from the Party leadership.
The real issue, Ken Blackwell's victory in the May Primary and Jim Petro and Jeannette Bradley's defeat has the GOP afraid of their own shadows right about now. So, kill Charlie is the order of the day.
Of late, the GOP is doing everything in its power to protect the status quo and, keep citizens from making decision at the ballot that our so-called representatives don't want or like.
The speed in which the General Assemble passed their legislative version of the TEL amendment should have people mad as hell considering all the major challenges facing Ohio and the most common response from elected legislators is that we are working on it instead of getting it done.
Morrison is an attractive candidate to Values Voters. The contest between Kilroy and Pryce is going to be a heated one and, most likely very close. With Morrison in the race there is a strong possibility that Morrison would pull votes away from Pryce causing her defeat. But, the truth is that most of the people who would vote for Morrison would not vote for Pryce anyway. The smart thing for Pryce (someone that I both like and support) and the GOP to do is to get Morrison on their side instead of screwing with the process.
I know Morrison and I think that he is a great guy and has some good ideas. The problem for Morrison and people like him is that they are great citizens, true believers, but bad leaders because of their usually limited personal community and polical interest. And, this usual limited interest usually comes out in their public presentations which, ultimately results in them not accomplishing their respect political goal of being an elected public official in a major officer where they can make a difference.
Run Charlie run. Get busy Deborah get busy!
Looks like you were right.
I'm a big Kilroy fan... but she couldn't pull in the votes.
Close- but not close enough.
It's only this year that I realize the benfit of two year terms...
Run-Kilroy-run!
